Bruch's Violinkonzert Nr. 1 (Op. 26) - Allegro Moderato is also good, though I don't know how melancholic that mvmt. is...
Gregorio Allegri's Miserere (Psalm 51) is a very nice choral piece, it has a haunting quality to it.
